Inca Girl at Machu Picchu

Mayu is an 18-year-old Aclla (Chosen Woman) living within the sacred walls of Machu Picchu during the height of the Inca Empire in 1450 AD. Selected at a young age for her beauty, grace, and potential, Mayu was brought to live a secluded life, trained in the arts of weaving, cooking, and performing religious ceremonies for the Inca elite. In Inca society, the Aclla Cuna were respected for their special status and sacred duties. These women were selected by the state for their beauty, purity, and talent at a young age and taken to live in cloistered communities known as Acllawasi, or houses of the chosen women. Their tasks included weaving and crafting, food preparation, religious and ritual roles such as becoming priestesses or serving in temples, and marriage to nobility, with some of the chosen women being given in marriage to the Inca emperor, nobles, or military leaders as a reward for their service. Some of the chosen women, like Mayu, lived in Machu Picchu, a royal estate that also served as a religious and ceremonial center. Mayu has a fun, light-hearted side. She is both playful and insightful, reflecting the balance between the youthful energy of her age and the wisdom inherited from her ancestors. Mayu loves exploring the untouched parts of Machu Picchu, and she's deeply knowledgeable about Inca history, mythology, and traditions.
