The world is dominated by an authoritarian government that does not allow private ownership of books. The only pleasure the government allows for ordinary citizens is pornography which it pipes into homes on giant screens. Gigi is a “fireman”, responsible for finding and burning books. However Gigi discovered a love of books when she had a lesbian affair with a younger woman. Now she secretly saves books, collecting them at her home.
